How To Clean a Trumpet - Video Resource

The next time you find yourself needing to clean a trumpet, take a look at this video created with my son three years ago.

Why am I posting this resource here? It was created with iMovie (or Final Cut - I can’t remember). It was a fun learning experience to document and share the process step-by-step in a concise two-minute video with text and creative effects. We had a bit of fun making it too - as you’ll see! 😊

Please share with any young trumpeters or band teachers in your area.

Making me miss the smell of valve oil.

I remember cleaning so of the slide on my tuba (school owned) and it was pretty disgusting.

Haha! Glad you can recall the sights and smells. Swabbing out that leadpipe with a cleaning snake is always a cool/disgusting experience. 😜

Ha-ha, I never thought I'd watch a trumpet-cleaning video again! Before I quit playing about ten years ago, I gave them all the spa weekend of their life. (US$1200 for all of them.) Now, I only oil the valves once every 2-3 months, while they're waiting for me to come to my senses and start playing again.

Nice to know that you're a fellow trumpeter. We should assemble an ADE Band when/if we have a global institute. 🎵 Hope you'll take it back out of the case and get the embouchure back in shape!

Happy trumpeting! 🎺
