iMovie can help engage students by giving them a creative platform to express their ideas and tell stories through video. With its user-friendly interface, students can easily combine video clips, images, music, and voiceovers to create polished, professional-looking projects.
This hands-on process helps students develop important skills in storyboarding, sequencing, and editing, all while encouraging creativity and personal expression. By allowing students to produce content that reflects their ideas and interests, iMovie fosters a sense of ownership and pride in their work.
Students first completed a graphic organizer and wrote one sentence in each box for their story. They could create this either digitally or on paper. After completing the organizer, students began creating their stories in iMovie. Each square in the graphic organizer represented a picture and sentence in the iMovie. Students could add transitions, titles, and music to make their iMovie unique to them.
Once they finished creating their iMovie, they exported it and saved it to their Photos app. From there, students uploaded their video to OneDrive so we could create a QR code.
After students uploaded their video to OneDrive, we showed them how to create a QR code using the Shortcuts app. Then we printed the QR codes for parents to scan so they could watch the iMovie their student created.
We also created a keynote presentation on how to create a QR codes using the iPad and laptop for our the staff. We attached that presentation below.
