3D Pixel Art - Graphing Ordered Pairs

This 6th-grade math activity, the 3D Pixel Art Coordinate Challenge, is designed to help students master plotting (x, y) ordered pairs. The project begins with a guided practice phase where students are given a specific list of coordinates, which they plot using 3D cubes in Reality Composer to build a "mystery" 3D image.

Next, students work backwards by creating their own original 3D pixel art design while carefully recording the (x, y) coordinate for every cube they place. For the final phase, students swap their coordinate lists with a partner, who must then attempt to build the design from scratch. This "peer review" helps validate the accuracy of the original list. Once completed, students export their final 3D models as USDZ files and place them into a shared Keynote presentation to showcase their work.
