This is for any IT department struggling for the first time to integrate your SIS into Apple Classroom. We were having an issue where teachers could see their students, but they couldn't connect. They would remain offline. The "fix" was something my Jamf administrator figured out through sheer determination and grit, which then led to an understanding of the problem. The problem was that we distributed iPads to teachers before we did the SIS sync for classroom. When you do an SIS sync, a field is created in Jamf called roster (it's a bit more complicated than this, because it goes through ASM, but that's the basic gist). However, the contents of that field do not automatically get connected to the existing teacher iPad profile in Jamf. You have to connect it manually, and it's really crazy how. First, you have to create a fake profile. Then you can assign the roster field to the correct profile, and then delete the fake profile. For reference our SIS is PowerSchool, and we use Jamf Pro.
