Learning Electronic Information Without Going to University

I did not go to university, but I have always been interested in electronics, computers, and how different devices work.

Recently, I decided to study electronic information engineering on my own. I found several university course lists online and used them to create a simple learning plan. I started with basic circuit theory, analog electronics, digital electronics, signals and systems, and then planned to move on to microcontrollers and programming.

Most of my learning materials came from recorded courses and PDF textbooks. At first, I thought finding the right courses would be the difficult part. But after downloading more materials, I discovered that organizing and using them was also a challenge.

Some video courses were very large. A single course could take up several gigabytes, which made the files difficult to store and transfer between my computer and tablet. I began using VideoCompress to reduce the file sizes while keeping the text, circuit diagrams, and demonstrations clear enough to follow.

PDF textbooks created a different problem. Many of the best books and technical documents I found were in English. I could understand some of the terminology, but reading an entire chapter was slow, especially when it included unfamiliar explanations and long paragraphs.

I tried copying individual sections into translation tools, but that separated the text from the diagrams and formulas. Later, I used PDFTranslator to translate the documents while keeping their original layout. This made it much easier to compare the translated explanations with the formulas, tables, and circuit diagrams on the same page.

These tools did not make the courses easier, but they removed some of the small problems that kept interrupting my learning.

Now I have finished organizing the materials for the first stage of my study. I can watch the course videos on different devices, read the textbooks more efficiently, and spend more time understanding the actual content.

My next step is programming. I plan to start with C, then learn how to write simple programs for microcontrollers and connect what I learn in code with the circuits I have already studied.

I still have a long way to go, and learning alone is sometimes difficult. But I have also realized that not attending university does not mean I cannot follow a structured course or learn the same subjects.

Sometimes the biggest challenge is not finding knowledge. It is building a learning process that you can continue every day.
