Maths and Music-DJ Demi's Instrumental!

My Year 2 and 3 students have really enjoyed learning to use GarageBand and a lot of them have started to refer to themselves as "DJs"!

I've just created a simple Maths and GarageBand task to incorporate algebra ( rhythm and beat patterns) and ordinal numbers called DJ Demi's Instrumental. I have used this as a starting point and we will look at different algebraic patterns and beat combinations in our own songs and parts of popular songs we enjoy.

Together we can use this as a stepping stone to investigate common patterns in different genres of music e.g. classical, rock, pop, hiphop, country etc to see the maths behind the music.

I'm looking forward to seeing what our little DJs create, discover and learn about maths and music!
